The focus of Christiana Lugbauer's work is primarily on the further development of her formal language. The hand-built organic objects take their inspiration from the plant world and blur the line between utilitarian vessel and sculpture.
Christiana Lugbauer mainly uses the hand-building technique but also the wheel to create her ceramic pieces. These forms are inspired by their surroundings and develop a life of their own as functional and sculptural objects.
Texture and color, shape and surface, weight and size are meant to reflect the handwork and its marks.
Christiana works in small batches and one-off pieces and each vessel is unique, variations in shape, symmetry and finish are proof of this.
